Your ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) is the foundation of everything Outpulse does. It powers the AI fit score on every discovered profile and shapes the personalized DM drafts your campaigns generate. The more specific your ICP, the higher quality your signals will be.

Setting up your ICP

You configure your ICP during onboarding and can update it at any time from Settings → ICP. [IMAGE: Screenshot of the ICP settings form with all fields visible]

Fields

Product name and description

Write a clear, plain-language description of what your product does and who it’s for. Good example:
“Outpulse is an X outreach tool for SaaS founders and growth marketers who want to find potential customers on X and reply to them at scale.”
Avoid vague descriptions:
“A marketing tool for businesses.”
The AI uses this description to judge whether a post author is someone who would buy your product.

Target industries

List the industries your best customers work in. Examples: SaaS, E-commerce, Marketing agencies, Fintech, Healthcare. Be specific where you can. “SaaS” is more useful than “Technology.”

Target job titles

List the job titles of people who typically buy or champion your product. Examples: Founder, Head of Growth, Marketing Manager, VP Sales, CTO. The AI performs fuzzy matching, so you don’t need to list every variation.

Pain points

List the problems your product solves — written as your customer would describe them, not as feature names. Good:
“spending too much time manually searching for leads on X” “missing conversations where people ask for product recommendations”
Avoid:
“lacking a go-to-market automation solution”

Keywords

Keywords are terms your ICP would use when they have the problem you solve. These supplement your monitor query — the AI uses them as context when scoring, not for search. Examples: “recommend a tool for”, “looking for a way to”, “anyone tried”, “switched from [competitor]“

Competitor names and handles

Enter your competitors’ product names and X handles. This enables competitor monitoring (replies to their posts) and helps the AI score posts where someone is evaluating alternatives.

Follower range

Set a minimum and maximum follower count for authors. This filters out bot accounts (too low) and accounts that are unlikely to be buying (depending on your ICP). Leave blank to apply no filter.

Language

Select the languages you want to engage in. Outpulse only surfaces signals in your selected languages.

Verified accounts only

Toggle this on to only surface posts from X-verified accounts (blue check). Useful if your ICP tends to be established professionals or brands.

How ICP affects scoring and drafts

The ICP shows up in two places:
  1. AI fit scoring — every profile a monitor discovers is scored 1–10 against your ICP. Bio, follower count, and (for post-mode monitors) the reply text are all evaluated. You filter on this score when importing leads into a campaign.
  2. Draft generation — every campaign draft is written using your ICP as context. The AI knows what you sell, who you sell to, and what pain points your product addresses, so the draft can speak to the prospect’s situation specifically.
After your first campaign, look at the leads that scored 8+ but didn’t feel like a fit. If a pattern emerges, tighten your ICP description or add bio keywords to your monitor to filter the pool earlier.

Updating your ICP

Go to Settings → ICP to update any field. Changes take effect on new scoring runs and on new drafts — they don’t retroactively re-score existing leads or re-draft existing campaigns. Use Regenerate on individual leads to refresh drafts with the updated ICP.
